Dealing with Anxiety: The Prayerful Approach

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Many people are familiar with this Bible verse, but don’t act upon it. If you’re like me, this verse is easier read than done. Often times, we let our situations get the best of us. I tend to focus on how I can change the situation, instead of praying about it. It’s something that I’m working on in my personal life.

Look at the Bible verse carefully. It states that we should not be anxious about ANYTHING. Let’s be real, that’s hard to do. Through the strength we have in Christ, it IS possible though. No matter what you’re going through, whether it’s grief, sickness, taking a board exam, we should pray in every situation with thanksgiving. Sometimes God allows us to go through certain situations as a teachable moment. In times of fear/worry, we’re more likely to turn to Him rather than when things go our way. We need to rely on Him to get us through life’s impossible feats.

Listed below are some more Bible verses that can help you navigate through anxious times.
